#VisualDiet is important. We are bombarded with images of skinny, white, youthful cis folx in media and advertising, often sexualised women. I don't want it on social media as well. I want to see people who look like me: #trans and non-binary, chubby, 40ish. I want to see #fat #androgyny and #transmasculinity. I want to see #diverse genders and skintones.

So, last night, I tried on the jacket I bought for the SFWA Nebula Awards Ceremony again. When I bought it in March, I was four months on HRT, and things had changed a lot.

Now I am nearly six months on HRT (Testosterone) and things have changed a lot more.

The jacket doesn't close anymore, but it fits much better around the shoulders and arms! Trans bodies are AMAZING!

The amazing thing about Testosterone that I should have (but did not) expect, was that my idle body temperature has gone up 3 entire Fahrenheit degrees. This makes this entire ridiculous cold weather storm very interesting to, uh, weather. It might be in the negative double digits outside, but inside I am boiling even with the thermostat set to 66.

So in January I have a #SFF #shortstory about a #trans pirate (with mutiny! and kissing! and curses!) coming out in @apexmagazine !!!! Also next month I have an essay to be released also about #transmasculinity and a very certain piece of media from the 90s that somehow mostly holds up. WEIRD AND AMAZING.

Everything comes crashing down, but I keep writing.

Anyway I’m pretty sure the persistent feminization of #transmasculinity at this point is less to do with a previously “female” identity assignment or “socialization” and rather the persistent medicalization/disability/psychiatrizarion of #transmascs both before and after transition regardless of whether one seeks transition at all.

Womanhood is a medicalized state and that this persists into manhood for transmascs with no period of youthful, masculine ‘wellness’ absolutely marks us.

#TransWomen, please, for the love of the Gods, understand that #TransMen are #men, #TransMasculinity is #masculinity, and our #testosterone isn't some kind of special #trans testosterone, it's the same as a #cis man's. If you have problems with certain kinds of men, *specify who they are* instead of shitting on us all.

For everyone’s sanity I urge people to reconsider the insistence of putting #transmasculinity and #transfemininity in a privilege/oppression matrix against each other and see conflicts as lateral displaced aggression. For some reason, probably because it actually discourages conflict, people are loathe to look at conflicts as lateral displaced aggression.
