just got back from a shopping trip with my 11-year-old and her mum, and my what an affirming experience that was. particularly when my daughter (who has been struggling a bit with my coming out) said how nice it was to have a girls' shopping day all together 🥰🥹😭

even if i had come away empty handed (i absolutely did not, lmao), the day would have been worth it for that moment alone!

Happy Friday! Today is my youngest kiddo's 14th birthday. I can't believe my baby is so grown up. Having finally become myself, I feel younger now than I did when she was born.

For anyone who is worrying about transitioning and telling their kids.

Kids are amazingly resilient, and loving. They love YOU for who you are, not what gender you present in.

It might be a shock at first, but they will get over it soon. They will realise that the person they loved is still the same person, regardless of how he, she or they present.

Every is a new day, and every day I'm learning how to be a better parent. How to help my kids find their space in this world.

Some days are better than others. But the pain and fear and helplessness of some of those bad days are never fair away.
