Every month is Pride Month!
In Dresden findet diesen Samstag #dd2406 schon zum dritten Mal die Queer Pride statt.

Aufgrund der miserablen Umstände beim CSD Dresden, bei welchen sich Vorstandssprecher und Gesamtleiter Roland Zenker rassistsich und queerfeindlich äußert, Parteien den Protest als Imagepolierung ausnutzen und wo sich Neonazis, getarnt als Securities, wohl fühlen, freuen wir uns umso mehr, dass sich 2021 die Queer-Pride gegründet hat.

Diese ist unabhängig-selbstorganisiert von queeren Menschen aus Dresden und Umgebung und läd dazu ein, Vielfalt und Selbstbestimmung auf die Straße zu tragen.

Doch auch über diesen Tag hinaus sind wir laut, aktiv und kämpfen weiter bis wir ein sicheres und gutes Leben für alle Menschen erreicht haben.

Wir sehen uns um 14:00 am Hbf DD!

My current book is called The Intermediaries. It’s about the first gender reassignment surgeries—in the 1920s-30s—at an institute in Berlin. Most people think Lile Elbe was the first trans woman to have the surgery, but she is in fact the second—the first was Dora Richter, a working class apprentice baker. We don’t know where she is buried. But while in Germany, I did stop to pay respects to Lile. In the meanwhile, back to writing.
