I legitimately don't understand why it's so frowned upon in physical spaces (in this case #aerials / #trapeze / #AerialSilks but it's also happened to me elsewhere) to ask why it's taking so long to learn something. If you have 100 people, and 90 of them learn the thing within 5 classes, and it's taking me 50+ classes, shouldn't somebody be asking if it's an instruction problem versus a me problem?

Chicago Trapeze School out by the lake today, at Foster Beach! (I love randomly running across stuff like this!) I missed more dramatic feats because they were adjusting some lines.

Wij waren in de Arnhemse stadsschouwburg bij de voorstelling #Trapeze van Peter Blok en Bas Hoeflaak.

Leuke show over keuzes maken, slecht nieuws brengen, maar ook verwerken en over de grote sprong in het diepe…

I made progress on my #trapeze pullover today. I can now get myself into a front balance without freaking out AND do a proper dismount. Still working on the front balance, but hey - progress is progress. #Aerials

A lot of my other #trapeze problems are coordination issues, since I was a book child and never really learned how to use my body to do things. It sends me into the same kind of panic state as when I try to do a forward roll on the ground.... which none of the instructors were really able to help me with either, when I tried taking intro tumbling classes.

Anybody here do #circus stuff, more specifically #aerial, and even more specifically #trapeze? I've been taking general classes for a year, and trapeze-specific classes for about four months. I have some weird huge mental hangup on pullovers. I can get myself into a hip hang (if I tag my feet in the ropes), but moving up into a front balance is terrifying, as is the proper method for coming out of a pullover. This is 100% a mental issue and no instructor I've asked has any idea how to help me.
