Unless I have a good reason to do otherwise, I’ve had great luck just buying whatever #TheWirecutter tells me to. Not so with their top pick for a travel mug, the Zojirushi SM-SC48 Stainless Steel Mug. In fact, it’s far worse than most travel mugs I’ve used--it keeps the liquid so hot, and the spout plastic is so thin, that I regularly burn my lip on it. Their “also great” pick, on the other hand, the Contigo Autoseal Transit Mug, is by far the absolute best #TravelMug I’ve ever used in my life.

I brew my morning tea (a pint) in a small teapot, then pour it into my Temperfect mug, which immediately drops the temperature to a drinkable level and then holds it there for hours.

It is somewhat heavy — it weights 1 lb 3 oz empty — but I don't mind the weight and I love having my tea not cool off.
