That Penn/Syracuse/Harvard educated polymath truly broke the mold on “detective novels” and ushered in an entirely new genre of mystery-thriller writing—the heavily character-based story featuring a deeply flawed and utterly human protagonist.
Sorry I ran out at just 21 volumes…
