So today I'm working with some fluent friends on some short scripts to have handy.

Things like, "Hi, I'm ___, a volunteer with a neighborhood group that takes care of street trees. The series of extension cables that is wrapped around this tree to charge e-bikes is a fire hazard and causes harm to the tree. Can you please take it down?" 4/4

I was pretty fluent in Spanish ~20 years ago, but I've lost so much since I stopped having to speak it every day. (School, friend groups, etc.) 3/

Problem is, most of our volunteers don't speak enough Spanish to communicate easily with our predominantly Spanish-speaking community. 2/

In additional to the manual labor involved in #TreeLC, we also try to do some community education/outreach. Stuff like asking vendors/store owners not to tie stuff to trees, take down lights after the holidays, don't put random crap in the tree beds. 1/
