Here's the last of the #SNW reviews for Season 2.

This was a challenging episode, because it definitely does what it's supposed to do as a cliffhanger of a season finale... but that also leaves open the question of whether it's done *enough*.

Hegemony isn't just a political state of being. Here, it also refers to the emotions - like fear of loss, or prejudice - that sometimes dominate and dictate our actions.

Can they be overcome?

Since I’m a MASSIVE #StarTrek fan, and this is toot 1,701 on my feed, a tribute to the U.S.S. Enterprise seems apropos.

But which Enterprise? I’m a 90s kid, so my very first was the Enterprise-D. In time, I came to know and love all of them. (Okay, maybe not the J. That one’s just weird.)

Since two episodes were released last week, there are two reviews of #StrangeNewWorlds today.

This time, we go deep into the challenges of war trauma, in an episode that asks questions for which we should never expect tidy answers: not in any age, and *certainly* not with all the suffering that exists around us every day.

M'Benga's struggle is not a hypothetical - and that's the bleakest part of the quandary here.

As I look at the world around me, I keep asking myself, “How fucked do we have to be before we start turning things around?”

Then I think about #StarTrek. It’s often thought of as a utopian setting, more or less, which is true. But us #Trekkies, who are steeped in the lore, know that there’s a fair bit of dystopia in the Trek timeline. And that dystopia hits around… right now, actually.

And if you watched a particular two-parter in #DS9, well… yeaaaaaaaah.

Today for #OnlySky I reflect on a solid episode of #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds that does a *lot* of work around a classic Trek trope: the character who's having a subjective experience that others can't easily verify.

This is *such* a humanist concept. Phenomenology doesn't always account for how each of us carries a world within. How we show up for each other when words aren't enough is *everything*.

I have a question. I know plenty of #Trekkies. I used to be one. However, I've learned that In 2005, the Child Exploitation Section of the Toronto police found that all but one of the offenders they had arrested in the last four years was a hard-core Trekkie.

Why is that? (at least one article said 99 out of 100, but I can't find that number now).
