Last year I made my first trip to Elkin, North Carolina to explore the area. I ventured into the downtown area and noticed this bridge that was built in 1899 was listed a photo opportunity on their map.

With this still being an active rail line, I carefully framed this shot and gave it a vintage look in post processing.

One more thing I’ll add. With all this web scraping and RSS polling, it’s so tempting to incorporate a roundup of the best critical writing and opinion columns across the media (and I do think there is real space for this somewhere), but we have decided explicitly not to focus on opinion and commentary with #trestle

For now, our focus is providing a channel for highlighting news from people and orgs *who are actually doing the work*, rather than spiral down the clicktivism drain.

In collaboration with 1/200, I’ve been working on #Trestle, a low key system for syndicating news and media releases across progressive groups, unions, activists and others in Aotearoa striving to make positive change for working people.

Finally took a trip down to the Willapa Hills Trail in Chehalis, WA. There was construction about three miles in so I didn’t get very far, but I also didn’t have a ton of time, so it worked out. Looking forward to riding the remaining 49 miles of the trail this year. #bicycling #RailTrail #Trestle
