“Dr. Shaun Davis, co-principal of the Thompson Region Family Obstetrics clinic (#TRFO), is now confident the facility will be able to accommodate patients with due dates until December.

“We are very positive that there will be a solution that’s worked out in advance of the closure you’re talking about.”
#TRFO Dr. Shaun Davis told Castanet #Kamloops on Friday that he's also optimistic a deal will soon be done, but it will not automatically fix the problem. Once a contract is ratified, qualified #maternity doctors still need to be recruited and hired — a process he said could take one or two years.”
“[#TRFO] is responsible for between 50 and 60 of the approximate 100 babies born each month at #RIH. According to the #ThompsonRegion #DivisionofFamilyPractice, the clinic has a team of five doctors, two registered midwives, a registered nurse and medical office assistants. They serve between 500 and 600 families annually.”

“Davis said #TRFO representatives have been in discussions with #InteriorHealth and B.C.’s Ministry of Health trying to come up with a solution. He said those talks have involved plans for recruitment of locums and new doctors, as well as advocating for a new payment contract.
When asked about the likelihood of a deal being worked out before the end of July, Davis said he's hopeful.”
