Day 27: Game I'd Like A New Edition Of

If I said #Tribe8RPG that would be cheating, because I'm already doing that.

So I think I'd say #Mekton. We were already supposed so get a new edition, but then Cyberpunk 2077 got in the way.

I'd love to see it updated, but even more I'd love for it to have more of a narrative focus. The version in my head uses step dice.

Day 19: Favorite Published Adventure

I don't run a lot of published adventures. I'm tempted to say *Children of Lilith* for #Tribe8RPG, but I have a fraught relationship with it. I think it's *The Tale of the Corrupted Core *for #TalesOfXadia. It's well done and provides clear challenges with difficult choices that have an impact on how the scenario plays out. I've run it multiple times and it's turned out differently each time.

Day 13: Most Memorable Character Demise

That's my late friend Anthony's Yagan Doomsayer in our #Tribe8RPG game back in the day. A mad scientist type had created a machine that was going to pull the River of Dream through it and give her godlike power. It was a bad scene. During the fight in the control room things weren't going the PCs' way and it looked like she was going to succeed in getting into the machine.

Day 12: Old game I still play

Technically it's #Tribe8RPG. Sure, it's not the same mechanics but given that the reboot is official that still counts, right? Does it matter that I'm one of the people writing it?

Found some more #Tribe8RPG #TTRPG inconsistencies and trying to square them in #TribesInTheDark. In Children of Lilith, a Z'bri stronghold is described controlling the crossing for what is the Yamaska River. Horrors of the Z'bri describes Grand Bee (Granby), which was home to a zoo and is a place that Gek'roh (Z'bri/animal hybrids) are being pulled toward by their "mother" (the first hybrid, named Gek'roh). /1

I'm going through and setting up pre-written quests (e.g., scenarios) for #TribesInTheDark #TTRPG, and I've been looking at some of the original #Tribe8RPG scenarios. Dang, they seem so completely overwrought. You can condense down the entire thing, especially using a FitD-style format, in less than 1000 words.

Can somebody who lives in Montreal think of a building that matches this description from the #Tribe8RPG? It's going to be somewhere in Westmount if T81e is to be believed. If instead we go with the description from Word of the Fates the Metro green line passes directly underneath it...but it's surely to the southwest of downtown because it's mentioned that the line is flooded past Lionel-Groulx.

Every time I start to delve into details about the locations in the #Tribe8RPG and their connections to real locations in Montreal, I'm struck by how much the was left on the table in the original books. Obviously there's a lot that had to go in the first edition rulebook, and it's not bad to leave things to the imagination. But there is so much cool stuff that could have used just a little more detail here and there.

Here and there in #TribesInTheDark I have been leaving little fingerprints of my own on the setting. Mostly they are small details that have emerged as I've played the #Tribe8RPG. I'm particularly proud of this little detail.

Someone posted a link to Ghislain Barbe's Tumblr. For those who don't know he is responsible for the iconic style of the #HeavyGearRPG, #JovianChroniclesRPG, and (most importantly to me) the #Tribe8RPG. He's still creating some amazing art.

9. Favorite TTRPG for its writing

#Tribe8RPG has both some of the most evocative writing of any game that I've ever read and at the same time some of the absolutely most atrocious. But overall the theme and the tone of the good writing prevails.

2. Favorite TTRPG game world

Vimary, from the #Tribe8RPG. I fell in love with it almost 25 years ago and in all the time I still don't feel like I've told all of the stories that can be told there.

I finally hit the speedbump in #Tribe8RPG lore I've known I would need to address in #TribesInTheDark: the Oneida. For those not familiar, they're a very "evil" human group in the setting. The name is also an actual Native American culture and nation.

I don't know what to change it to.

I'm trying to decide if I want to fix something in #TribesInTheDark. In the #Tribe8RPG the map of Montreal is rotated maybe 30 degrees clockwise. Most references to directions treat the top of the map as north. I think I want to rotate it to the proper orientation.

@herecomesthestatic Vimary from the #Tribe8RPG. Granted it's from the late 90s and has a few rough spots, but it's an amazing "not Western fantasy" setting.
