I came across another #narcissism-is-a-#neurotype person on #Twitter today.

Again, I asked for more information about where they got their beliefs. They tell me I'm wrong for literally quoting the psychological research on #narcissists. When I ask them for a source, any source, to defend their extraordinary claim, all they have to give me are insults and their rage.

And today, as I blocked another #abusive defender of narcissism, I re-read through the symptoms, and a thought occurred to me: if all the defenders of narcissism turn aggressive the moment you don't accept their beliefs as fact without evidence, could they be #narcissistic?

I know two of the people who've attempted to convince me (not with facts, just by shouting "#ableist" over and over) were definitely diagnosed with #NPD.

The more this happens, the more convinced I become of this, and the more opposed to the idea of narcissism-as-a-neurotype I become. Particularly because this is exactly the sort of #gaslighting bullshit my narcissistic #abusers have offered me.

At this point, it's literally #triggering my #trauma to hear these people out, which only seems to welcome abuse, and I'm concerned that I may be wrong but that I'll no longer be able to hear the data when it's finally (one day perhaps) offered because I'm afraid of the #abuse I'll get.

And that, knowing that the feeling that I may be wrong and bad for believing my own experiences as a #survivor of abuse is affecting me in such a negative way, makes me very mad at anyone who tries to stand up for people with NPD.

I have to put myself before narcissists. Especially because I know my tendency is to go at far as to hurt myself to avoid hurting others, even the worst behaved others.

I hate that.

But I really don't see another option. 😿
