Not in an effort to encourage ignorance, but I hope as a community we continue adding TWs & blurring particularly and potentially disturbing news content. Rather than playing a social media shock-scrolling gamble, a lot of unnecessary trauma & emotional drainage can be avoided by simply warning folx of what kind of content they’re choosing to consume.

This picture of GI's interupting a vaudeville #dragshow to shoot down Nazi Messerschmidts is the definitive proof that fragile RWers know that deep down in side they are all in for #triggerwarnings.

Im learning an important part of the culture of #mastodon is using the content warning option. Using trigger warnings is important, especially when talking about sensitive topics. This makes it so users have more #agency and #autonomy over what they decide to consume when logging into social media. I didn’t use #triggerwarnings for some of my initial medical posts. I won’t be deleting them because I don’t think the point is to erase my history, but to learn and improve . I’ll be mindful in the future! Thanks for educating me and being patient as I learn this new space.

I had a conversation with a former refugee earlier this week, who was clearly dealing with unprocessed trauma just hearing the word and recalling the experience.

This is an app. I get that it signifies a lot because we pay it a lot of attention.

Words still mean things in the “real world”.
