I have always said that a *true* urban neighborhood has ice cream trucks. #TrinidadDC had tons of them when we lived here 2009-2014. Our neighborhood in San José had tons of them 2014-2019. But when we came back to #DC, the trucks were gone. It’s been sadly quiet for years.

But in the last week, I have seen multiple new Mister Softee trucks on the block, and they appear to be drawing crowds. This makes me so excited. *This* is how you live in the city!!! 😁😁😁

Went to The Public Option on RIANE for the first time this evening. This is the kind of neighborhood corner joint I wish we had all over #DC neighborhoods, especially at the corner of Montello and Queen in #TrinidadDC.

(Also, it’s owned by a former co-worker of mine from NGS—we recognized each other’s faces somehow after ~15 years.)

I really want the proposed dog park in #TrinidadDC to get built so people stop using Wheatley’s and Joe Cole’s grounds as dog toilets.

There is *no one* more willing to flaunt rules and ignore “do not” signs than white dog owners. No one.

Is there a Strava “King/Queen of the Hill” or whatever they call that stuff for the figure 8 inside Joe Cole Park? Because I know a four-year old who has earned it. #bikeDC #TrinidadDC

Today is our neighbor’s 99th birthday. He has lived next door since just after WWII. I am absolutely certain he is the longest living resident of #TrinidadDC, and he’s awesome.
