So if it's true that Dennis Lingwood (Sangharakshita, the founder of the #Triratna #Buddhist order) did have an enthusiasm for getting his followers to read #Nietzche, that isn't exactly Buddhist. Not simply because the Übermensch obviously isn't a Buddhist concept, but also because Nietzsche was beloved of a rather different group: early 20th Century Western Esotericists, who were also very often fascinated by the far east. Is that what this Lingwood guy had some affinity to?

The whole #Triratna #Buddhist order saga also lends a rather different perspective to Suella Braverman's right wing edgelord pronouncements about "grooming gangs" and the UK Pakistani community. The founder (and accused sexual predator) of the order of which Ms #Braverman is a member was a white guy called Dennis.

So if the serving UK Home Secretary is a member of a sect founded by a sexual abuser, is that not a matter for rather more klaxon-y and regular press coverage than a couple of mid pager articles in the Guardian? #Braverman #Triratna #Buddhist

#SuellaBraverman identifies as a #Buddhist, and is a member of #Triratna. This makes about as much sense to me as would #DavidDuke being a member of the #NAACP.

This is not hyperbole; everything Braverman stands for is in opposition to the #Buddha #Dharma.

@TheConversationUS @flipboard So it's time to abandon that *Iron Age* social construct and not before time. In #Triratna, we did this 50 years ago and have never looked back. Nor do we have any institutional barriers to including marginalised people or classes.

Pretty much everyone I meet in the (increasingly elderly) #Triratna Order these days has settled into a comfortable set of views that are not up for discussion. It's so boring.
