So.... um, yeah I had to code on my mobile 'cause my laptop broke, lol 😅 Not really the cleanest code ever but I'll improve it 🙃 Also just take a look at #Tromjaro and see how much it has grown over the years! I like how @tio pays attention to every little detail of how an average nontechnical person uses Linux, where they get confused, etc and try to improve/fix everything he can - what you end up with is not a perfect distro but one with a much better UX than most.

@jumboshrimp I actually am using @tio #tromjaro because I like #XFCE, and it's what I had on the machine when I became blind. I also like that arch does few patches, so it's easier for development against latest upstreams in relatively pure form. But #OpenSUSE #Tumbleweed would have been my other choice. I also have an old netbook running #AlpineLinux.

@jhx One system I really love is #tromjaro both for the philosophy and @tio work making xfce so user friendly. Arch also has things packaged that are never found in debian repos (sid included, ubuntu or ppa's, etc) such as gitea (forgejo) and woodpecker. So it's what I had setup as a kind of Linux dev server while loosing my sight. Arch based distros are also nice in that they don't patch much, so it's easier to use the latest upstreams for testing and integration directly.

Also I'm actually surprised to see Linux having such good support for fingerprint, to even use it for sudo authentication. Does the fingerprint only work for when you wanna install packages in pamac or does it work every time you use sudo, even in the terminal? Either way, it might be a good idea to write a setup guide for fingerprint reader on the #Tromjaro forum.

As long as I am able and wish to produce things for #linux kernel based systems, some kind of #archlinux system makes the most sense to me for development. #tromjaro is rather pleasant, and I really do like #tradefree as a philosophy. #AlpineLinux makes the most sense to me for services delivery, especially for on-premise devices.

I am somewhat saddened that none of @mozilla apps ( #thunderbird or #firefox ) correctly do application menus, and so fail to integrate with hud on #tromjaro which I have really come to like and do also find useful for #accessibility @tio

#tromjaro is a nice choice for #xfce goodness but GNU/Linux continues to mutate into something strange and less reliable with #systemd as well as supporting bad desktop ui's represented by #gnome and loss of critical functionality with #wayland so I do think of a more active #netbsd future for me. My server projects already build and run on netbsd fine. One of the few remaining bright spots to me in #linux development and deployment is in producing AlpineLinux based service containers.

@tio since the #tromjaro iso does boot to a full premade desktop and then runs the installer as an app, this can make it easier to address install-time #accessbility

With loss of vision I did halt my original plans for migrating to #tromjaro this summer to simply hold on to what was very familiar to me while adjusting. But now that I have finally adapted, I feel ready to do that again. I may have a lot to say about #accessibility in tromjaro @tio
