For #SeptembeRPG #SeptemberRPG #SeptembeRPG2023 5 I have some thoughts.

When I began DMing I tried to railroad and not railroad at the same time. I tried to guide into scenes as good as I could without forcing a lot.

Until I forced a scene really bad.

And I went into the other point and I finished into #PbtA and then I learnt how not to prepare and I got used and comfy by not preparing.

But I felt not so right sometimes.

I felt lost, but could not say how or why.

Recently I found #TrophyDark and #TrophyGold #FateOfCthulhu #CarvedFromBrindlewood ...

Ways to prepare not tight at all, but having some kind of prep.

And it clicked si well. I have DM'd things like #BlackSwordHack by facing the prep as a Trophy incursion, for exemple.

And that is the greatest change I've got: learning how to prep as it fits with my DMing

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of playing a really nasty little character to an unsurprising and deserved end in the second part of an excellent game of #TrophyDark. Ifori was an overconfident demonologist in love with her own theories. Her first impulse in every situation was to lie, cheat and betray. Incapable of caring for anyone but herself.

My greatest inspiration for really horrifique #TrophyDark incursions are classic Fairy tales and I do not need to twist them at all.

@HeyeBodo My favorite horror game so far is #BluebeardsBride - fantastically written, easy to adjust to different lines & veils, and with great mechanics to emphasize the creepy-scary-oppressive vibe. I've also enjoyed #TrophyDark, #TrophyGold, #Lovecraftesque (2E playtest version), and parts of #TheBetween (the least explicitly horror game of this list) but I haven't spent as much time with them.

Something I find really cool from impro games like #TrophyDark #TrophyGold #CarvedFromBrindlewood #Ironsworn #Starforged or #Quietus is having a mechanic way to stablish the end of the story (the 5 rings, the sets and the 30 Gold goal, the Mystery Roll, the Promises and the two clocks).
That gives a pacing structure as the written Adventure is lacking and the risk is the game going on until tireness, not a real ending.

Meine #TrophyDark Session heute war ein Feuerwerk der weirdesten Ideen. Meine Gruppe war wirklich toll, unglaublich kreativ, super in der Tonalität des Spiels und haben sich voll auf das Spiel eingelassen.

Keiner von denen hat je Play-to-lose gespielt und auch keine heavy kollab. Ttrpgs. Aber das hat der Session keinen Abbruch getan.

Sehr gefreut hat mich der Star am Ende der Session über die verwendeten Safety Tools.

Ach, das Spiel ist wie eine üblich Session TD ausgegangen. ;-)

Beim heutigen #PnPDe Treffen in M leite ich eine Gruppe von vier Schatzsucher*innen in den alten Kaldhur, und damit in ihren unausweichlichen Untergang. Diese Narren denken wirklich sie könnten der Floculant Cathedral ihre Schätze rauben. Werden sie schon sehen, was sie von ihrer Hybris haben sich mit dem Wald anzulegen.

Ich freue mich schon sehr auf eine Runde #TrophyDark in ca. 3h. Es ist meine erste TD Session seit Monaten, ich hab schon Entzug gehabt ;-)

The most horrofying moment in yesterday's run of #Trophy #TrophyDark was when they asked me about the corpse of Zarevich Ivan.

I described the injuries as it should be in the Fairy Tale, where he was ripped in pieces and then put together.

Fairy Tales are Horror Movies for children and that is beautiful.

I think #TrophyDark is the fastest from-reading-to-playing #ttrpg I've ever read. By page 20 you've done with the players section, by page 40 the GM section and then choose and read your incursion. Character creation is super quick and you're all set.
This is just awesome!
