For #SeptembeRPG #SeptemberRPG #SeptembeRPG2023 5 I have some thoughts.

When I began DMing I tried to railroad and not railroad at the same time. I tried to guide into scenes as good as I could without forcing a lot.

Until I forced a scene really bad.

And I went into the other point and I finished into #PbtA and then I learnt how not to prepare and I got used and comfy by not preparing.

But I felt not so right sometimes.

I felt lost, but could not say how or why.

Recently I found #TrophyDark and #TrophyGold #FateOfCthulhu #CarvedFromBrindlewood ...

Ways to prepare not tight at all, but having some kind of prep.

And it clicked si well. I have DM'd things like #BlackSwordHack by facing the prep as a Trophy incursion, for exemple.

And that is the greatest change I've got: learning how to prep as it fits with my DMing

#trophygold ich bin vorsichtig mit so online-Verabredungen, nachdem es für mich (und durch mich) öfter dann doch auf Absagen rauslief...Ich hab so n vollgestopftes Leben. Aber dieses Spiel sollte ja in einer, höchstens zwei Sessions zu machen sein. Und Tools außer Videotelefonie braucht man auch nicht. Wer hätte denn mal Lust auf eine Incursion? Ich leite gern.

#SeptembeRPG Day 1: A Great RPG first played this year

#Trophy #TrophyGold was my discovery this year. It sat there on my shelf, I read it at least two times (in its Codex format, and then the book).
I got the opportunity to play it, and it went great. I really enjoyed the gameplay, the way the fights are dealt with, the emergent lore that can be felt from anywhere (the character creation, the questions, the incursions...)

31) Favorite #TTRPG of all time

Tough choice, but I'll have to go with Trophy Gold by @jesseross and published by @gauntletrpg .

It's a dark fantasy RPG that uses modern story-game mechanics and an OSR-like approach to exploration. The press-your-luck dice mechanics mesh perfectly with the play experience. And the collaborative writers-room approach to the narrative constantly introduces new and unexpected story-beats.

Première expérience sur #Trophy #TrophyGold ce soir, et c'était plutôt convaincant.
L'aspect mécanique des règles arrive à se faire oublier par la narration, par les questions posées, et au final, cette mécanique rejaillit dans les moments importants pour apporter de l'histoire.

Ca donne envie de tester encore plus. #JDR

15) favorite con MODULE / ONE-SHOT

I don’t go to cons and, perhaps as a result, haven’t played many one-shots, but my favorite one-shot so far has to be Hester‘s Mill for #TrophyGold by #JasonCordova. So many great moments, a dark and mysterious atmosphere and the feeling of a large and unknown world in the great beyond, fraught with danger and, well … gold! 😁

Second place is „Die Nacht der Toten“ for #Splittermond. I might convert it to a rules light system at some point.

7) Smartest #TTRPG I've ever played.

That is a tough question to answer: "Smartest" can mean a lot of different things.

Ludonarrative resonance is a really tough thing to pull off in TTRPGs. That's where the game mechanics themselves harmonize with what's going on in the game narratively. And the game I've found with the best ludonarrative resonance has to be Trophy Gold by @JesseR. (And it just won an ENNIE!)

Trophy ist bei den Ennies nominiert und meine Incursion "Das Tor in der Krone" kam gerade im Playtest sehr gut an.

Beim Frühstück kam direkt die Frage: "Wollen wir gleich die Trophy Incursion weiterspielen? Ich bin Recht angefixt" ☺️

@HeyeBodo My favorite horror game so far is #BluebeardsBride - fantastically written, easy to adjust to different lines & veils, and with great mechanics to emphasize the creepy-scary-oppressive vibe. I've also enjoyed #TrophyDark, #TrophyGold, #Lovecraftesque (2E playtest version), and parts of #TheBetween (the least explicitly horror game of this list) but I haven't spent as much time with them.

Welcher Typ Spieler*in seid Ihr eigentlich?

Hintergrund der Frage: aktuell spiele ich #OSE und #TrophyGold, leite demnächst wieder #CallofCthulhu. Ausgelöst durch Regeldiskussionen in der OSE Kampagne habe ich darüber nachgedacht, was für mich am wichtigsten ist.
Überraschung (nicht 😃): Ich spiele immer für die Geschichte, dann kommt lange nichts und dann die Regeln. Im Zweifel entscheidet halt die Spielleitung, er oder sie macht das schon.

The game is very collaborative and last week’s session was great fun. The players have a lot of narrative control in the game and came up with some deliciously scary stuff

Two days ago, I played #TrophyGold for the very first time (Hester's Mill) . It's different, it's... Trophy and it was such a great and very special experience. I am hooked. :)
