31) Favorite #TTRPG of all time

Tough choice, but I'll have to go with Trophy Gold by @jesseross and published by @gauntletrpg .

It's a dark fantasy RPG that uses modern story-game mechanics and an OSR-like approach to exploration. The press-your-luck dice mechanics mesh perfectly with the play experience. And the collaborative writers-room approach to the narrative constantly introduces new and unexpected story-beats.

Im Oktober steige ich mit unerschrockenen Trolls in die Tunnels des "Dungeon of the Bear", des großen Funhouse-Festes von 1979. Und was habe ich jetzt endlich doch gekauft? #trophyrpg in Gold. Different Flavors of old-school :). Und was noch? "Firearms and Margarine" für #CastleFalkenstein , Klassenkampf und Feen in Paris. Wenn ich das an den Tisch kriege, wäre was los! #pnpde

Typically complex for new people, a lot of things to look at during character creation, plus there are big decisions for future character development. Yet interestingly quickly the game is understood and is simple to play.

24) COMPLEX / SIMPLE RPG I play.

Well, as of right now the complex RPGs I currently play are #DnD5e, #Cthulhu, #Shadowrun, #TheOneRing and #OSE (B/X is NOT a rules light game imo). As for the simple ones, well I hope to play #TrophyRPG again, soon. I also enjoy the #TinyD6 games, #IntoTheOdd, and #Cairn.

22) Best SECONDHAND RPG purchased

Day 19) Favorite published #TTRPG adventure

For a traditional #DnD zero-to-hero, save-the-world adventure series, it's hard to top "Rise of the Runelords" for #PathfinderRPG. Mix of dungeon, wilderness, urban, & small-town settings; interesting enemies; and lots of role-play opportunities.

15) Favorite #TTRPG convention module or one-shot

My favorite one-shot to run is "The Flocculent Cathedral," an incursion for Trophy Dark, written by my dear friend @jimlikesgames .

It's a dark-fantasy horror scenario about a group of doomed treasure-hunters seeking fabled riches in an abandoned church lost to a desolate swamp. Lots of squishy, squirmy, wriggly, mossy, swampy horror where the characters invariably turn on each other at the climax.

7) SMARTEST RPG you‘ve played
Tough one. There’s been a bunch of really elegant and smooth games, and they work for their intended purpose. I’d’have to say #TrophyRPG is the smartest collective storytelling horror game I’ve come across. As far as crunchy games go, the German #Midgard5 game plays surprisingly elegant once you quash a couple of the clunky aspects. It still has some very strong weaknesses, but of the crunchy d20 systems, it’s my favorite.

7) Smartest #TTRPG I've ever played.

That is a tough question to answer: "Smartest" can mean a lot of different things.

Ludonarrative resonance is a really tough thing to pull off in TTRPGs. That's where the game mechanics themselves harmonize with what's going on in the game narratively. And the game I've found with the best ludonarrative resonance has to be Trophy Gold by @JesseR. (And it just won an ENNIE!)

4) Most RECENT game bought
This would have to be the #TrophyRPG Slipcase, which I managed to score second hand last week after sleeping on the KS.
I played this game with @HeyeBodo and @greenspindle recently and I loved everything about it. It‘s a bit of a specialist tool to have in the box, but for its specific purpose it does everything right, in my opinion. Collaborative storytelling mechanics in a perilous environment at its peak. I haven’t had this much fun in about 25 years.

@empathy @renegaderich Many games in the "Powered by Apocalypse" family build this approach into the game mechanics. It's especially true for games in the "Carved From Brindlewood" sub-group of #PbtA games. The Ennie-nominated game Trophy does that as well.
