As a child I wore shorts all year round - I was born in the mid 1950s.
I don't think I had any long trousers until I went to secondary school.
I cycled in shorts as a teenager and I'm not sure that did my now arthritic knees any good in the long term.
Now it has to be sweltering for me to inflict my lower limbs on the world.
