Today, I finally updated all (~20) my #TrueCharts
apps! I have been postponing these updates for far too long (months). Due to breaking changes introduced by TrueCharts, I had to re-install every single app which was very tedious.
While migrating the PVCs via "zfs send/recv" went smoothly for the most part, migrating the Postgres databases was more challenging. The TrueCharts migration guides really only work if you backup/restore databases for similar app versions.
However, I ended up reinstalling all my apps because of all the breaking changes #TrueCharts has introduced in the last few months.
I am very grateful to the team for the great selection of apps to choose from, but it has become too involving to keep up with their internal processes changing constantly

@train As a noob I really benefit from the infrastructure created by #truecharts on #truenas . Once you set it up, any app you deploy has a reverse proxy before it, ssl certs, split DNS for local and public access, and more I haven’t played with.
I certainly wouldn’t know how to achieve this from scratch. Heck, I wouldn’t even have known about these best practices.
Fellow #truenas #homelab owners, do you have own chart repos or you all only using #TrueCharts?
Continued my #NAS migration today, I set up my #restic backups, my off-site backup to #BackBlaze B2, NFS shares and finally installed docker-compose with #TrueCharts.
Next on the list: finishing setting up my automated #backups and migrating my #Docker apps.
