The author wrote two pieces in #TrueNorth , I see, the first about math and the second principally about reading. I have no real opinion about how best to teach math [0].

Regarding #reading however, the article states that the new curriculum is based upon #phonics and "background knowledge". My understanding is that both of those *are* best practices.
