How did I miss this? I've had the album of "True Stories" since it came out and of course I knew that the film existed, but I'd not seen it until today. Very odd, quirky, and well worth seeing IMO.

Pity I lost it, because the version of Papa Legba sung by Pops Staples is such a gem, it starts out rough and simple and then his singing just builds into something like a real propitiation that really gets to me. I used to put this on loop and let it play for hours!

I walk slowly from the back of classroom and down the middle isle of desks, wearing yesterdays cloths, until I reach the officer. He says, “come with me” and before I know it the classroom door has shut behind us. The death march has begun.

@loren I love, love, love the #TalkingHeads #TrueStories movie.
I saw it at a cinema in #Southampton UK when it came out (and when I only knew the band from #OnceInALifetime).
I spent much of the next few years living in #BocaRaton FL working for IBM. The movie now feels like a perfect time capsule of what it felt like to be in the US in the late 80s/early 90s.
