How many legal cases does Donald Trump face? 2 DOJ investigations, a Georgia grand jury, NY charges and a lawsuit https://flip.it/IcU2eR #TrumpInvestigations #TrumpLawsuits

I guess if you keep hitting refresh, interesting things show up.
Trump's lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, in response to reporting that federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are preparing security arrangements for the possibility that Trump will be indicted as early as next week, says Trump will surrender and follow the usual procedures.

From Politico:
"The Jan. 6 committee gave the Justice Department 30GB of evidence that it hasn't released publicly, prosecutors indicated in a court filing connected to the Oath Keepers."
One reason the DOJ needs this is to make sure that witnesses are telling the same stories to Congress and law enforcement.
They need to assess the reliability of possible witnesses as well as locate lies told by targets.

Here is Manhattan DA Bragg's statement after the sentencing of the Trump Org this morning.
From Bragg:
"Based on the magnitude of the long-running scheme to defraud tax authorities and the all-count convictions [9 felony counts including 17 crimes] the People recommended the maximum fines under New York State’s Tax and Penal Laws. . ."

Now we learn that in early December, the DOJ issued subpoenas to Trump campaign officials seeking information about basically everything.
For the list, see the screenshot.
The Washington Post, which broke the story, correctly concluded that given the far ranging information being requested, the probe is far from over.)
I updated my FAQ page with the new info. Link in the next post.

Here is the latest in the DOJ stolen documents probe:
If you recall, on December 7, after the FBI indicated that it believed Trump still retained classified documents, and a federal judge told Trump’s legal team to make sure that the subpoena from March had been fully complied with.
Trump’s team hired an outside team that searched other Trump properties . . .

I added a question to my FAQ page.
Someone asked (I'm paraphrasing): I understand that the J6 crimes are complicated, by the stolen document case is a slam dunk. Trump stole the documents and was caught red-handed. So what is taking so long?
Additions are in red, but unfortunately, if you haven't read the document, you need to read it in order because earlier answers explain later answers.
(But you can skim over the timeline :)

From @zoetillman:
Giuliani received a subpoena to testify and provide documents to a federal grand jury in Washington, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The subpoena came from the US attorney’s office in Washington and was issued in early November, before Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Notice: We don't hear about these things right away.
Why documents?

@z_everson "Trump’s airline defaulted on its loans in 1990, a New York hotel declared bankruptcy in 1992, his Atlantic City casinos filed for bankruptcy five times in the 1990s and 2000s, his Chicago tower defaulted on its debt in 2008, he allegedly lied to financial institutions about his finances from 2011 to 2021..." oh, and by the way "...his supporters violently took over the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021..." zing. #TrumpInvestigations #nevertrump

@CarlG314 So a couple things: Trump can’t reconstitute the company in a different state due to a court order and monitoring in the NYAG matter.
As for the repercussions of felony convictions for the company: Potentially pretty hefty.

I keep saying that Trump and pals generally lose in court, where facts matter.
Today, the IRS sent Congress Trump's taxes after the Supreme Court declined to step in.
Yesterday, the South Carolina Supreme Court ordered Mark Meadows to testify, calling his arguments "without merit."
Also yesterday, the leader of the dangerous Oath Keepers and one of his sidekicks was convicted of seditious conspiracy.
Etc. Etc.

Florida judge says Michael Flynn must testify before a special grand jury in Atlanta that’s looking into whether Trump and his allies illegally tried to influence the 2020 election in Georgia. He was ordered to testify Nov 22.
My AP colleague, Curt Anderson, was at the courthouse and wrote this dispatch with AP's Kate Brumback in Atlanta: https://apnews.com/article/florida-donald-trump-georgia-af1bc7ae04f6bad9fcf97d8889fb15aa
