To refute lies:
Always LEAD with the TRUTH, not the lies.
DO **NOT** put the lies first in your tweets, headlines, and/or articles.
Giving lies primacy, gives them validity.
Give the truth primacy, not the lies.

Indeed.
How to refute a lie without simply amplifying the lie.
Use a Truth Sandwich:
-- First, tell the truth.
-- Then, point the lie and how it diverges from the truth.
-- Repeat the truth and explain the consequences of the difference between the truth and the lie.

@georgelakoff Thank you for reminding #ProEmpathyAllies about our commitment to govern with empathy for and responsibility to human beings. And to be effective pro-empathy freedom allies we must talk about OUR truth and not #AntiEmpathy lies. And if we must mention the lie for context, then stick it between two pro-empathy truths by using your #TruthSandwich. Our 2nd Trimester Empathy Surplus Weekly Forums begins April 19. Enrollment info at https://proempathy.us/schedule.

Since I started posting on Mastodon I've respected the convention against quote-boosts. But for a #TruthSandwich I feel I have to make an exception:
There is no such thing as full self-driving for cars. The name of the Tesla software is a lie.
That's exactly what @davidzipper is saying here, but it needs to be up front!
There is no such thing as full self driving for cars. But this NPR story starts at 9:33 and it's not until 12:08, after repeating the phrase "Full Self Driving" ELEVEN times as the name of a Tesla program, that reporter Camilla Domonoske lets user know the name is misleading, and a human is supposed to be actively monitoring the car at all times to make sure it doesn't hurt anyone.
We need to do better: a #TruthSandwich and an abbreviation. @georgelakoff
