@PetervanAlphen my band, Snake Suspenderz, started with me on #ukulele and Thaddeus on ‘Sri Oompa’ (a rescued sousaphone). ol’ Sri was in pieces, being used as garden decorations. Thadd talked the lady out of it, cleaned it up, and duct taped the pieces together. the mighty Snakez ended up with me (mostly) on ukulele and vocals, Thadd on damn near anything he picked up, and salamandir on a big old C tuba.

ukulele variants and #tuba variants go together like scotch and soda.

I don't agree. Not at all. I haven't the slightest knowledge of computer science and I feel much comfortable on the #Fediverse than on Twitter or on LinkedIn. I use #Fedilab and #Tuba as clients on my devices. After a while, it has become one of my most regular connection habits. Almost relaxing.

Writing this from the #tuba #Mastodon app on my #PinePhone ! Suprisingly full featured! The new wave of gtk4 and libadwaita apps looks so nice and is so full featured. Kind of makes me want to write a pixelfed app, if I had the skills.

Testing #Tuba (#GTK #Mastodon Client) on #Ubuntu 22.04 (#GNOME) installed with #Flatpak and it just works, no extra configs needed! :clap:

I did some research on #tuba sites. turns out my difficulty with being sharp is because I'm buzzing too high and yep. buzzing exercises immediately feel better. shoulda thought of that. it's always true, on all brass instruments... the best sound happens when buzz and length of the instrument are aligned. brass instruments will slot you close but tuning is so much more

It's easy to get angry when software doesn't work properly, so remember to be thankful when it does. #Tuba by @GeopJr does a lot of fancy stuff, and it does it smoothly without any stuttering, crashing or UI jank. I haven't even thought that much about the fact that I'm using it, it just fades into my subconsciousness and lets me browse Mastodon and interact with people. Thanks!

There's only one other thing I'd change about Tuba (a pretty minor inconvenience). Writing a post requires clicking a fairly small button, tucked away up in the top-left corner of the app. Having a posting box as part of the main body of the interface is pretty standard for fediverse web apps, and that would be my recommendation for a better #HX (Human eXperience). Failing that, make the button bigger, put a word on it (eg "Post" or "Compose"), and put it somewhere more obvious?

#Tuba

So far, my only major grizzle about Tuba is that notifications are on by default (a bit of Dark Pattern IMHO and not good for Digital Wellness). Even worse, I can't find any options in the Preferences for turning them off. I just turned off all notifications in my OS settings, problem avoided.

But for people who like notifications, and want to be selective about which apps can notify them, that's going to be a pain.

#tuba is the most interesting Fediverse browser so far which you can try on your Linux machine. it's getting major updates and adding features rapidly. install from Flathub if you want the latest version ASAP, it's also available at Fedora repos
