But at almost 4 times the watts (and a bigger speaker) the Blues Jr. is _way_ louder than my AC4. If I had gotten the 40-watt Hot Rod Deluxe I’d almost certainly have needed to get an attenuator.
I haven’t played out since high school, and if I ever do play out again, it’s fairly unlikely that I’ll need more headroom than the BJr offers. #Guitar #TubeAmps
I’m really glad now that I talked myself out of getting a Hot Rod Deluxe IV. I had wanted something with a hefty clean headroom, but with the 15-watt Blues Jr. I get a pretty killer chimey, Fendery clean tone with the gain/volume at 10 o’clock or so and the master volume at 2. Wampler Belle (with the right settings) pushes it into slightly gritty, and I’ve got a Rat clone (Rare Buzz Effects Cyborg) and a fuzz pedal (Keeley Fuzz Bender) for more dirt. #Guitar #TubeAmps

This Blues Junior that I got recently is my first tube amplifier. It has no standby mode so I had been wondering what's worse--frequent power cycling or sitting idle?
From my brief searching online, it sounds like frequent power cycling is worse. With short breaks, it should not be a problem to have the amplifier on for 6-8 hours. If you know your break is going to be a few hours or longer, turn it off.
