Happy Birthday, London Underground!

160 years ago today, the first passenger services ran across what is now part of the north side of the Circle line!

Here a train of S7 stock is leaving Baker Street, on the Hammersmith and City line, en route to Barking. A new special roundel has been designed for the occasion, which was unveiled today by the Mayor of London.

Every time a different train stock retires on London Underground, the staff work hard to give it a thanks and a good send-off. Here is the last D-Stock train in passenger service in 2017, arriving into Bow Road station on the District Line, around 6.20am, carrying a special headboard.
The usual passengers did not realise how special this train was!
