[1973] Tufty Fluffytail - Tufty Fluffytail was RoSPA’s iconic red squirrel who was instrumental in helping millions of children to learn about road safety from the 1950s-1990s.

Created in 1953 by Elsie Mills MBE, who worked on child safety initiatives at RoSPA, Tufty helped to communicate simple safety messages to children across the UK.

Aha yes, the URL display isn't automatically shortened on #Tufty (an android client for mastodon), but it IS on the Mastodon web client. Hrm.

It seems more like the Mastodon Way to post the long version & let the client sort it out.

I'd be inclined to do that if there's an expectation that most Mastodon clients will shorten super-long URLs. But if it's a very mixed bag, the v.gd URL shortener could be a more friendly option.
