WATCH: 2022-built Maersk Campton arriving at Felixstowe, 6.30am, Monday 19 June 2023.
Its a breezy morning, with an 18-20 knot WSW to SW wind, and Maersk Campton employs 3 tugs to enter Harwich Harbour.
Her last call was at Jebel Ali in the UAE.

Assisting a ship out of Oakland Inner Harbor. The crew was messing around with this pilot ladder they’re going to use to disembark the pilot after we get the ship headed out to sea. The rain, the flood light above the dangling ladder and occasional crew popping out of this weird little hole (and me being ready for bedtime number two) all make for an interesting shot. What happened to Tugs? Models & Interviews! Documentary

Thomas the Tank Engine may grab the limelight, however a related series that first started in 1989 ramped up the quality in a charming show set in the 1920s called Tugs.

Sadly, Tugs only survived a single series however its legacy is one of great fondness.

A few years ago, I was lucky enough to view the real models up close in this documentary.

It's the #1980s: you work at a #British TV studio and want to make a new children's show like Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. You decide to create a series about #tugboats in the 1920s.

After a quick brainstorm you come up with a list of plot ideas:
- Organised crime
- Ghost ships
- Industrial disasters
- Military logistics

Having exhausted the pyrotechnics budget and traumatised an entire generation, you call it a day at 13 episodes and move on.

This... is #Tugs.
