As a reminder: #TempleUniversity wasn't required to cut off striking workers' health insurance and tuition remission - in fact it's the first university to EVER do so in the history of America 😲

#Temple decided that putting striking grad workers' lives (and the lives of their spouses and dependants) at real risk is acceptable retaliation for the temerity to ask for a living wage in 2023.

Now that we're in MONTH TWO of the #TUGSAStrike at #TempleUniversity , here's a quick update:

• My health insurance has been cut off AGAIN, and a bill for ~$1,000 has been applied to my account
• The medication I need to, ya know, live, costs ~$4,500/mo
• My tuition bill, usually $0 because of my Fellowship, sits at ~$14,000
• My pay for February was $0

But somehow #Temple expects me to come up with $19,500 by March 9th. That's the same amount they pay me in a YEAR.

I'm so disappointed in #templeuniversity--which is a shame. I've always been proud to be an Owl. I was a cheerleader in my freshman & sophomore years. I do think of myself as #TempleMade.

The new president seems like a jerk, & what the university is doing to TAs/RAs during the #TUGSAStrike flies in the face of what I've always considered the university's ideals to be.

That time (today) when #TempleUniversity tried to toot its own horn by Tweeting about some "tech commercialization" research their faculty did that they think is important - but when they linked to the publication featuring the article about it, the front page features a story calling #Temple out about their god-awful response to the ongoing #TUGSAStrike 🤣

Again I say, shame on #TempleUniversity. (I'm a #PennGAS alum and I stand with TUGSA.) Sorry I live too far away to stand on the line with you.

In this offer, #TempleUniversity offered just enough of a salary increase so that their graduate workers would no longer be eligible for SNAP (food stamps). It looks like #Temple's only goal with this offer was to keep that egg off their face, not actually supporting their workers with a living wage.

It's not just potential students #TempleUniversity is losing though it's unprecedentedly brutal union-busting tactics, it's losing potential facility and administrators.

(#Temple took away healthcare from striking workers and reversed tuition remissions, saddling grad workers with more in tuition this semester than they were even getting paid to begin with.)
