Deer have moved into the deep forest for fruits and nuts for winter whereas the turkeys have moved from the forest to berry patches. Here are some in our front yard, just outside my workshop window this morning.

Came across these wild turkeys at the local park yesterday poking around the ball field. The two youngsters were definitely in that awkward teen phase.

I was most amused when the mother wandered into the dugout so it looked like the young one was visiting her in prison through the chain-link fence. (She escaped and they made their getaway shortly thereafter.)

I forgot I got some pictures of a turkey scoping out a Loomis van at the hospital earlier this month. A flock of them seems to be hanging out on the hospital campus, and I keep seeing them around while going between buildings. I love it.

Here's a mama and her six babies (I shall call them turklets) walking through housemate's garden, eating the blueberries and bugs. 😄 He's building this big space as a public food forest, and the turkeys are definitely part of the public, so....

A rare evening visit from some of the local wild #turkeys. We see a group of 5-10 many mornings, doing their rounds. Really vivid colors on these two.

Happy Friday! Scenes from the farm: three different snapping turtles and wild turkeys. Snapper 1 was navigating a creek, Snapper 2 was glamour posing in the corn field, and Snapper 3 was rustling around in some grass. I saw a few groups of wild turkeys on that morning, the photo shows 4 of them before they disappear into the woods. Wild turkeys are very skittish here.

More wild and not poultry sightings!

Discovered one of the wild turkeys is nesting under the slide on the derelict playset we've turned into a fenced-in garden. We're delaying some planting so she can hatch them.

Discovered a white rooster is living in our yard. None of our neighbors claim him, so he was probably dumped in our neighborhood by someone who got a rooster instead of a hen.

I'm a bit worried that our mouser will go after him and get injured.
