Everything worked out. The owner was a lovely man, but a little clueless! 🤣
I had a good experience, but I don’t know if I’d ever rent out my vehicle that way. I nice follow up story to this news report would be how the owner did, or did not, get compensated. 😱

Just last week, I rented a #BMWi3 through #Turo to try it out. There are ZERO Tesla chargers in my fairly affluent neighborhood, but there are many CCS chargers, including one within a 5 minute walk. I posted about this elsewhere.
Sure, a Tesla could use this location too, but they aren’t helping neighborhood charging one bit with any of their own investment initiatives.

Just yesterday, a friend recommended the #Turo app for car rentals, which apparently is largely for sharing private vehicles. Turo tries to track *a lot*, even when it appears to be closed. Fortunately the "force quit" option seems to have stopped it; next step would have been to uninstall.

185 followers · 4357 posts · Server mas.to@LionelB I read the #Turo rules before returning the vehicle, and it states it has to be charged to at least 91%. Not easy when the dude is 9 miles away and the battery only charges to 40-50 miles of range (instead of 72).
I used EcoPro+ from the charging station, to get to the freeway 1.5 miles away. Charge stayed at 100%. Once on the freeway, I used EcoPro and set cruise for 70 mph, but within a mile, the charge level dropped to 97%. 😱

532 followers · 1823 posts · Server dice.campWe wound up going with #Turo for a car rental because every big name rental place near us is booked and Hertz's system claimed a credit card was a debit card and wouldn't approve the rental. It was cheaper, the car was delivered to the house contactless, and honestly I'm not sure I'll rent from a big company ever again. I suppose it all depends on how things would get handled if something goes sideways, but for now I'm very happy with it.

We rented a convertible via Turo, the AirBnB of car rentals. It was a very successful venture. I would recommend. And much cheaper than any car rental company I found.
