#Tutankhamun was limping. There were 130 entire orl fragmentary walking sticks or staves in the tomb. Carter assumed Tut was a collector, but some were ritual whereas some showed signs of use. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

The Antechamber in #Tutankhamun's tomb had a series of ritual couches on one wall. These details are from a couch in the recent #London exhibition. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

"Yes, wonderful things!" is exactly 100 years ago today. #Tutankhamun #Tutankhamun100
#OTD Howard Carter, Lord Carnarvon and Lady Evelyn opened #Tutankhamun's tomb on November 26, 1922. When asked, Howard Carter said he could see 'wonderful things'. Later he described it 'the most wonderful day of my life', 'everywhere the glint of gold'. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology #Egyptology

Lord Carnarvon made it to Luxor on November 24 where Howard Carter had waited patiently his arrival. They proceeded to open #Tutankhamon's tomb on November 26. This historic photo is from Luxor station. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

There were 35 hardwood ritual figures in #Tutankhamun's tomb. This Tut is riding a leopard and it is one of two such figures found in Treasury. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

This small golden shrine was found in the Antechamber of #Tutankhamun's tomb. Its decoration shows Ankhesenamun, Tut's wife, in her loving wifely duties, sitting at hunting Tut's feet etc. From the last #London exhibition. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

Second of my favourite objects from #Tutankhamun's tomb: the golden shrine from the Treasury. From the replica exhibition in #Stockholm. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

#Tutankhamun was buried inside five golden shrines. They filled the burial chamber totally and Howard Carter had to dismantle them in order to get them out of the tomb and to reconstruct them outside. A series of shrines from the reproduction exhibition in #Stockholm. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

This seal was untouched in #Tutankhamun's tomb. It was actually a seal to King Tut’s fifth shrine. The king was buried in a series of four sarcophagi, which were in turn kept inside a series of five shrines. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

As said before, #Tutankhamun liked his chariots. This reconstruction is one of six dismantled chariots of different type. It was in the copy exhibition in Stockholm. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

This is my favourite item in #Tutankhamun's tomb. It is a golden fan with a hunting seen. This pharaoh's tomb suggests that he was very fond of hunting and riding in horse drawn buggies. It is from yesteryear's exhibition from London. #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology

There was no wall between the burial chamber and the treasury in #Tutankhamun's tomb. The view was dominated by an Anubis statue and the golden shrine. This room was only accessed through the burial chamber in 1923 and it was catalogued much later, four years after the finding of the tomb #TutVember #Tutankhamun100 #Archaeology
