This one was really cool to work on, trying to get the best of that oppressive and humid feeling the production wanted. We're in the belly of an old and wrecked Golem.

I wish I had more time to explore much more claustrophobic scenes, to see how far I could push it.

For my pilot, I created seven main characters around whom the series would revolve. It has only been recently that I have made the decision as to which of the seven will be the main character. This character will have contrasting traits that will clash with each other and also with the other characters...🤔😃

Rocks again! But this time, wet ones! Different exercise than the desert one.

The challenge was to render a bit of depth and show the round "doline cave" shape, with a troglodyte village in the back.

I did background designs and paintings for the Mekka Nikki pilot trailer, produced by Dada! Animation.

It was challenging on some parts, every shot had to contain multiple fully painted layers, in order to be "animated" in After Effects, adding very cool parallax effects.

It was a first for me, doing finalized "on screen" BGs.

Question to ask about your script opening:

Does the protagonist have a goal before the inciting incident (that the inciting incident derails)?

Are we invested in the story that they start in?

Before the inciting incident, do we care about them / relate to them / like them / like their story world / want them to win / want to hang out with them?

TL;dr - Does the script give us a reason to want to stay with this story until the real plot takes off?

Just found out my #tvpilot spec, “Hawkwood” (a light Wodehouse-Ian/Agatha Christie-ish #comedy #murdermystery) is a Finalist in the LA International Screenplay Awards, which pushed up its ranking @Coverfly to the Top 35% of all Discoverable Projects!
