I just realised one of the biggest differences between here and the #twatterverse is if I decide to follow someone well known and say something to them, I suddenly find them responding themselves instead of having a bevy of mindless media assistants responding on their behalf.
Are media/comms assistants usually some type of #journalist…?

It's interesting reading through these posts. Every one speaks of love, care and respect especially I guess considering a founding parent of the #fediverse which should really have the odd genuflection etc, maybe a miracle but you know what I mean.

I'm not big on thoughts and prayers but as a parent of 26 I feel your concern and reach out in #pachyderm support.

This is the first time in this proper community where the discourse had needed multiple attempts to make sure everyone has a clear understanding of what everyone else means.

Back in the #twatterverse I'd have just ignored it and moved forward. Here I'm looking for clarity then I will make a decision because I have a hard time working out who trolls are and what their agenda is.

But I owe it to myself to ensure I don't ever get it wrong because I want this community to survive and I want to maintain my capacity to interact with far better people than I ever found in the #twitterverse at a level I choose, on subjects I chose at times I choose.

It isn't automatic that folks understand the anagrams and the alphabetics. Nor should it need to be automatic that we all understand those. It needs to be clearly understood that here we can choose our correspondents.

Just because the #fediverse only has 8 million people, doesn't mean you are doomed. It just a developing thing. It has very very few #bots unlike the #twatterverse which has trillions of bots.

All afternoon I've read about the awfulness of the #twatterverse in banking a bunch of journalists, many of whom have gone out of their way to give no voice to everyone.

So my question after 5 hours of #journalists losing their spot on #twitter is who gives an actual fuck? Apart from the journalists of course.

I've been thinking about all these #journalists complaining about losing their voice on the #twatterverse and all the consumers of their #journalism suggesting that #elonmusk is being such a can't to them but where were the voices of #trans and the rest of the #rainbow #family in the same media when they had a voice on #Twitter but have no thought to people on the #margins of our lives.
These same people ignored cries for a voice and continue to do so now in the #msm when those of an #alternative #sexuality or of #diverse #gender all to be heard.
Now perhaps you can actually feel our pain in our disrespected silence. And change.

@stux It's going to take a long time for people from the #twatterverse to realize that #cancelculture won't work here on #mastodon. If they don't like it, block it or mute it - #Mastodon isn't going to enforce their particular moralities or reinforce the walls on their cozy #echochambers. This is where the grown-ups are. Children should revert to the bird-site.
