@Gramarye I'd advise patience. I don't think anyone who runs a Mastodon server anticipated anything like the current exodus from #Twi88er even 3 months ago. Given the speed at which the #birdsite is going down the toilet, the current wave of #tweeps jumping ship is likely to be the biggest. And unlike big social media, the #fediverse lacks support from venture capital and big investors.

The maximum number of followers I ever had on The Other Site was about 600. Here, one month in I have 55. And the interactions never leave me angry or upset in any way. The key figure was the block list. Other Place saw me block twice as many as had followed me - over 1,100 fascists, religious loons, spammers and scantily clad females who had mistaken the place for Onlyfans.
