Purging all of my old tweets (all 80k+) with TweetDelete before Twitter decides to block that service, too. I think that's $15 well spent for peace of mind.

@sallydipple I’d use #tweetdelete first to nuke the content. May as well keep the handle. A bunch of inactive accounts probably just makes #elon sadder. I would remove any relevant meta data from profile. They seem to be losing that to hackers at a fair rate.

The beauty of #Mastodon is that #autodelete is an inherent #setting in the #configuration. I set my #toots to be deleted monthly.
There's a similar service for #Twitter called #TweetDelete. I have the same monthly deletion #task there.

My plan was to delete all my tweets today and then lock the account. LifeHacker recommended using TweetDeleter.com, but they took my money and then told me I have no tweets to delete.

Was this a rip-off, or did they get overwhelmed by demand?

I’m still finding Birdchan useful for less-frequent reaching a large audience and hearing from a wide range of voices, but #SpaceKaren is getting worse and worse. I just updated my #TweetDelete task to delete after two weeks rather than two months (reducing the amount of my monetisable content on the site) and I’ll consider logging out of the website permanently (the two-factor authentication uses my old phone number!) so I don’t see any more ads… Any other ideas? #TwitterMigration

It took me a while to get this done, but after over a month off the bird site, and being quite satisfied with the mastodon experience, here we go - 10 years of tweets, likes, and DMs, bye bye!

Running #TweetDelete on my birdsite account. I reopened it yesterday (it was set to deactivate on Dec 6) bit I found the site so distasteful with Musk rolling around and misusing Latin quotes that I can't be bothered staying. I thought that it might be worth fighting for but it is not.

It's dead to me. Deleting tweets the deactivating. Again. For good this time.

If you're leaving Twitter permanently, but are keeping the account (mainly to stop impersonations), you can delete tweets via a service that I used to help run back at Memset called #TweetDelete:
