I've been giving #twine another look, and if anything, it's gotten more confusing since the last time. For something that's supposed to be a simple introduction to interactive fiction, there sure is a lot of "the first thing you need to do is choose a story format, which determines which of several completely incompatible syntaxes you'll use" in people's intro articles/videos. I know at some level it doesn't really mattter for getting started, but it's off-putting.

Currently playing the 2015 #InteractiveFiction SPY INTRIGUE by furkle. Very intriguing so far.
It makes me realise (again) that the problem with a lot of novels, certainly in the Netherlands, is that they are just boringly conventional. I want to read things that confuse me, where I don't know where they're going, that show me that text is alive with possibility!

A slightly unusual thing to share for #ScreenshotSaturday: here's a flowchart outlining the method I'm using for the #NarraScope collaborative #Twine jam. This structure - which I'm provisionally calling a "Hypertwine" - allows each contributor's work to be viewed in a random order, with the whole lot bookended by an opening beforehand and an ending afterwards. State-tracking within index.html is provided by the (save-game:) macro. #InteractiveFiction #gamedev
