So as a farmer I have always supported other farmers. I work markets where vendors from neighboring states attend and have always welcomed them without complaints. I've recently experienced some negativity after applying to a market over the state line from me. Fact is we farm land on both sides of the line. This folks is why small farms and farmers are going away. This year I will be developing a CSA as well as working towards an on farm store!

Some of our replacement layers! These girls will be integrated shortly into our pastured layer operation! We chose a different breed each year for replacement layers so we can easily keep up with the ages. Last year we bought all Easter/Oliver eggers. This year we went with barred rocks!

It's that time of year again! We will be receiving our broiler chicks in March! We have processing dates in May for our first batch so all of our customers that love our pasture raised chicken hang in there we will have some back in stock in May! We will be running chickens on pasture from March until December to meet the demands of our customers!

Farming isn't always easy! It seems we are always fighting the weather or constantly weighing our profit and loss. Trying to figure out how we will produce more the next year to meet the needs of our customers. Weeks like this is why I do it. I had 4 new babies born on the farm. Seeing them happy healthy and thriving naturally make all the struggles worth it! If you know a farmer thank them! That small gesture will make there day or week!

Since I am on dinner duty tonight it's breakfast for dinner. Pork sausage has developed a bad name over the years for all the right reasons. The pork we raise and the sausage we have is different. All of our hogs are in there natural environment and fed all non gmo feed. As you can see very little grease produced from this sausage!

I have been farming in some way as far back as I can remember. My grandad (a lifelong farmer) would have looked at this land and scoffed at the idea of regenerating it to eventually graze cattle.We will put goats on this first to clean brush out. They will clean the brush up as far as they can reach. We will then bring pigs in to till the soil before eventually seeding it and putting cattle on it!

This is for all of my chicken people! This is a cheap idea to create nesting boxes! It's a cat litter box with the top cut! Very cheap and easy way to avoid the metal style nesting boxes that eventually rust out. I have some of the metal boxes and they work great until they finally rust out and they are on the more expensive side. Also on a side note this was my wife's idea lol

Our prized Berkshire boar! With the genetics from this boar we are able to produce quality feeder pigs with excellent genetics allowing them to grow at an excellent rate on pasture supplemented with non GMO feed. He spends half the year on pasture with the girls and the other half in a smaller area with barn access. He tends to destroy fences if he is to close to our sows/gilts without being able access to them.

Regenerative Farming had been a passion of mine for some time now. Growing up on a commercial farm where everything was about quantity not quality inspired the way I farm today! This wooded plot has had pigs on it for 45 days, we moved them to fresh ground today and will sow this with warm season grasses and legumes in the coming weeks and we will be grazing this same plot before the end of summer!

Just some background on our farm name. These cluster of tree's inspired our farm name! When we purchased this land we noticed these tree's first it is a cedar tree grown in between two hackberry tree's which inspired the name Twisted Cedar Farm! Mother nature is a beautiful thing!

Meet Daisy pig! We have had Daisy for 7 years now. My wife brought her home and I was less than pleased due to the fact we raise pigs for meat production and she didn't fit that model. I will say it was a good move she is better than any livestock guardian dog we have ever had she is extremely protective of all of our goats and chickens and she doesn't think she is a pig. She is the matriarch of the farm and she loves belly scratches!

Two of our calves here on the farm! Our cattle operation isn't huge at the moment. We are expanding our herd this spring to raise and produce more beef per year! We were out of beef quite often last year so we are expanding this year!

Washing and packaging eggs! Four more dozen going out to customers in the morning. One of my customers asked if we raised dinosaur's because of the size of the eggs lol. My respond was not quite but we do raise all of our animals on pasture supplemented with non-gmo/soy free feed! I always take the time to educate my customers on the benefits of raising our animals the way we do.

This is one of our mobile hen houses. We move these twice a day everyday rain,snow,or shine. Moving these everyday not only provides fresh grass for our hens it also helps to recondition the soil! This is one of our pastures we are currently trying to regenerate it has been overgrazed for years. I am amazed what you are able to accomplish with regenerative farming!
