No. The best hypothesis is that it was because of advertising and the ability to control timeline biases, which the 3rd party #TwitterApp s were able to bypass.
The same weekened that 3rd party apps were silently disabled, #Twitter silently switched off the chronological timelines completely (albeit since partly switched on again in response to the world noticing) leaving only non-chronological timelines and search biased towards those who had paid Twitter.

This week the APIs for third party clients, such as Twitterrific, just stopped working. I wasn't sure what headline to give this post. Twitter did something that was long overdue, but it did it in the worst possible way. Twitter killed third party clients this week, quietly, causing one hell of a stir in the community. I still have my #account on #twitter but deleting the #twitterapp when i was #newhere was the best i did.
Just going to the #bluebird by browser sometimes to promote #mastodon and watch who is still there.

@adman In light of the threatening #faucci statement, perhaps a lot of negative #TwitterApp reviews on both the main Appstores would now make #Apple and #Google think twice about continuing to host the App! I posted my review today after deleting my account and removing the App from my phone!
