Essential services: fire, police, emergency, etc, need to stop using Twitter if this rate limit thing by Musk sticks around. They should stop relying on it regardless but I don't know what clearer signal they need that Twitter is dying and unreliable.

I'm not sure how Twitter is counting post views for rate limiting (Do ads count? Do pre-loads by the app count?) but it's effectively unusable for me now. I got rate limited early this morning, despite barely looking at anything, and has only sporadically loaded posts/replies for me since then with most things I try to do coming back with errors. #TwitterDemise

I am not sure I can credit Elon Musk with the intelligence to articulate things in the way Patrick S Tomlinson does here, though he may have had a nebulous glimmer of the idea.

I do think there are people who egged him on, maybe even promised him financial backing, who did understand what #TwitterDemise would mean for democracy--and for authoritarians.

If you have the "show your latest X tweets" somewhere on your free wordpress blog, it may be working sporadically or not at all. Apparently, wordpress sent a note to paying users that Elon is asking for too much from them to keep it working.

So eventually/soon, you'll just have a sad little like to "my tweets"
