Adjusting to posting on other social media sites after using Twitter for so long will be difficult but I ultimately feel like it will be a much better experience for me.

There's a barely plausible idea put forth which confirms prejudices but which is then latched onto. It's not the facts that grab people (non existent) it's the emotional satisfaction. Notably, I'm not entirely hiding mentions, just putting it behind a warning because I _am_ a rather curious individual :P But if it was consuming my feed or my headspace too much, I'd go in there and change that setting so it's removed. I'm also not applying this filter to conversations, notifications, and profiles.
