Old to Twitter, new to Mastodon. Fast learning that I like having a place to brain dump, but hope to build a community of followers that engage and care, I have several thousand Twitter followers…and interact with a very small number of them. Twitter right now has 'last day of school before graduation' combined with 'zombie apocalypse and the undead have reached the compound' vibes.

It's engrossing to witness this utter disaster, especially considering what else $44 billion buys, and how many thousands of lives could be saved or improved instead. It's also quite sad to think how many connections, both personal and professional, formed on the platform are at risk of being lost.

I joined Twitter in 2009 as a mom blogger and small business owner. I made capes and baby blankets for kids. I used it to promote and secretly send snark to my 5 friends who were on it at the time. We shared a quite little place no one had found yet. It was nice. This feels sort of like that. I hope it holds the line there. #TwitterGoodbye

Use content warnings liberally.
Hashtag. Boost. And be sincere.
Mute if you need to.
People are willing to help, ask.
Cap each word in your hashtags.
Use photo alt text.
Be kind. Be real. Be patient.

Finally figured out where my account was... Jesus this thing is needlessly difficult to use and navigate. It is crowd sourced though I suppose.

It seems like a bit of a lost cause if celebs and public figures don't migrate over though if I'm honest.
