As Twitter is shutting down the free API with only a tweet by #elonmusk saying it will cost $100/month for basic API access. That said it isn’t stated yet exactly the cost. So this is a warning about this impending shutdown.

I feel so ashamed...

I was 9 days from my #deactivated #Twitter account being permanently deleted...

But in those 21 days, some accounts that I rely on for critical information have not come over to #Mastodon...

I much prefer the Mastodon community and thank all the new good people that came over here...

I'm trying to decide if I should just delete my account. I won't be using it again, as I definitely feel that it's become untenable.

Is there any value to keeping something that you've moved on from? Mainly I'm concerned that publishers will think my ability to promote my work has diminished. But I don't want to devote time to that platform anyway. I'd rather invest time elsewhere.

Any other writers in a similar position?
