@bootblackcub @aphyr Moving to a decentralized protocol and expecting a centralized experience is silly to me. Normalization and centralization go hand in hand, so a decentralized experience isn't normalized I.e. views are unreliable.

I always find it amusing when people flee #Twitter because of the centralization, algorithms, and opt-out culture and come to #Mastodon and try to recreate those same type of interactions. I just saw a toot about complaining about the lack of activity on hashtags. If it smells like shit everywhere you go, it might just be you.

I read some toots about wanting a quote feature, like #Twitter. Professionally, I work in #datascience. Information is a threshold of redundancy, correlations, and entropy. Too many different states I.e. entropy and there's no information. Twitter quotes create an additional wrapper where a person can include new hashtags thereby introducing more entropy and noise. It reduces the amount of meaningful #information.

Instance admins say there's a backlog of stuff happening. Servers may be slow for a bit.

The one bad thing about the #TwitterMigration is the resulting #TwitterMigrationOverload as admins scurry around upgrading their servers. It's quite the sight.

You always can tell that there are a swath of people joining Mastodon when there is a lag. It happened last night. #TwitterMigrationOverload

Just saw the incredible user growth numbers at Hachyderm and read your post. Everyone expanding the capacity of their instances and is amazing, and I am thankful for the teams behind all of the expanding instances.
Please let all the users know what they can do, either in terms of donations, assistance, just being patient, etc.
Also your post has made me extra thankful for @stux on my instance dealing with the deluge of people coming in.
