Since November I've started exploring LinkedIn as an alternative for focused professional communication. It's lively but I wouldn't say it can truly substitute twitter or mastodon. Vast majority of the content there still has a distinct flavour of CV building. But the most curious is there is a clearly different pace of the engine — I keep seeing posts even from 2 weeks ago, and people react to my posts for 3-4 days.

analyzing my first impression, i think one of the most drastic and obvious differences between traditional social media and mastadon is that here we don’t have the mysterious ‘staff’ who make decisions up high in the ivory tower and occasionally accede to the demands of the public. instead we have volunteers, and they’re active here, sharing about their work and not putting themselves a tier higher than everyone else. you can see that it’s a real person.

So other #twittermigraton people and #mastodon pros…one strange thing I’ve noticed is my timeline is not chronological. Know there is no algorithm and it seems to be folks on other instances so is this just a growing pain as everyone joins or is there a setting I’m missing?

(1/2) My first thoughts after hanging a bit on @mastodon:
- The product is not poka-yoke and does not apply the KISS principle (Keeping it Simple & Stupid) to drive mass adoption.
- UX is frustrating for less tech-savvy individuals and probably creates friction that doesn't lead to conversion
- Multiple apps (currently on Tusky) for the same product. This adds further frustration to new, less tech-savvy users.
