Self-hosted Mastodon hold so much promise. Imagine if you have a self hosted instance, and some kind of bot that auto-follows (and this indexes) users that talk about things you care about. This ensures that your instance is full of content from people you’ll probably like.

Then you just use it like you would Twitter. It’s your own private network, with your own rules. People can still find you exactly like they do now, you just happen to own your information.
