@lhp So I finally had time to check https://github.com/riverwm/river/wiki/How-tags-work
But I still struggle to understand how to actually setup tags and view them for my configuration. Why are there no code examples under #examples #riverwm #wayland #linux #twm
#examples #riverwm #wayland #linux #twm
@tinheadned Are you impling games dont work well with #twm ? I was under the same impression, but read from people saying it works without problems. e.g. with #swaywm
The tiling feature of #kde has one major disadvantage....you can't save program locations. So basically you have to rearrange them every boot. Thats pointless, imo.
@JustineSmithies it's funny that TWM is now mostly used for Tiling Windowmanager. From my understanding it's far away from tiling ;) Maybe it's the uppercase that makes the difference. #linux #tiling #twm
I'm sorry as I really am loving #RiverWM but I do find myself looking back at the #Qtile git repo all the time in the hope that a new release has dropped with improved #Wayland support. Because atm and it's my fault totally for loving bleeding edge but building with Wayland support right now just doesn't happen due to ongoing dev / changes for the next release.
Am I the only person that feels like this ?
#Python #TWM #TilingWindowManager
#riverwm #qtile #wayland #python #twm #tilingwindowmanager
@thedaemon this is my go-to game whenever I make a new OS install. I always install #Xorg + #ChocolateDoom and do a full #Heretic run on #TWM. Once I'm done with D'Sparil, I proceed to do the rest of the installation and configuration. I call it the " #Heretic seal of approval".
Still have a sealed copy of the game!
#xorg #heretic #twm #chocolatedoom
I am two for two now,. Not wanting to be three for three because that will send me back to MS windows.
Backup time, time wasted configuring Apache2. What a mess after #mongoose on windows.
I think the plan is to install without X. Then incrementally work up to X-windows that starts with startx.
Tom's window manager #TWM looking good to me now.
This is a bit of a niche question I know, but can anyone recommend a good minimalist #x11 #windowmanager? For quite a while I've been happy with #twm, even though it's ancient and really just a reference implementation, but it only implements follow focus, which makes some applications fairly unusable (e.g. menus disappearing when you try to interact with them). Most recently this seems to have become the case with #firefox. I've just installed #9wm, which mostly seems to be the sort of thing I want, but it's very dependent on using button-3, which makes window manipulation with my laptop's trackpad quite awkward.

@fatboy I absolutely love #blackbox ! Don’t get me wrong, #fluxbox is my no. 3 ( #twm holding strong at 2). I have some great styles I collected and made a Frankenstein style, 🤭. I digress.
The fact that you are making a Blackbox/#windowlab mashup from Fluxbox is awesome. Would love to see the finished product.
You could call it BlackLab with a Labrador’s face as the logo! 🤪
@otaviolarrosa Fair suggestions, but they don't come with preconfigred #twm, no?
@thaodan Using that on my home #desktop. Would be solution, but I have to admit the #twm functionality is a bit limited and borked for some windows. Oversized windows, overlapping, no scratchpad. #kde panel behaving weirdly, #widgets for audio not properly recognizing play audio sources. This might be an issue with wayland, not sure.
Any suggestions for a #linux distribution for work with a tiling window manager #twm preconfigured (mostly)? Base distro preferably arch or debian? But also open to anything else. I used #endeavouros last time with #i3wm. #sway is out of the question regarding the need to for #rdp compatbility.
