My personal take on Kinoite, as staged by the Ublue team, has received a significant update to align it with the latest developments. You'll be using a signed docker container before you know it ;-) Read about it (and try!) at https://github.com/thesaigoneer-kinoite/thesaigoneer-kinoite/blob/live/README.md
One down, two to go. My opiniated immutable Silver-Ublue-Saigon spin has been updated and is avalaible for rebase. No Gnome software store, no Nautilus and no Gnome terminal in there. Have a look for yourself at https://github.com/silver-ublue-saigon/silver-ublue-saigon and give it a spin.

#bazzite 1.0 is out now.
I've been using it on my desktop for about (3) three days myself now. ❤️🔥

It's thanks to Steam Deck that I was brave enough to try Kinoite.
Now it's come full circle haha. 😅

My 2013 #Macbook Pro is limping along with a bad battery. Its repairability score on iFixit is 1/10 - so frustrating that #Apple makes this so difficult to repair. I really want an inexpensive laptop with a high-quality display for #Fedora #Silverblue or #Ublue. I only care about screen quality as this will be a light-duty laptop. Can Linux be installed on #Chromebooks? Or should I find a used Macbook Air with a retina display?

I just installed Universal Blue on my 2012 #Macbook Air, and thanks to the preincluded broadcom-wl drivers, it's the only take on #Fedora that works on it!
Shoutout to @jorge for making this possible! I can finally use Fedora in some form on that old Frankenstein machine, and even with immutability and all of #UBlue's cool features!
But.....
If anyone does wanna try Silverblue or Kinoite out (or Rebase to basically any Desktop Environment you want)
Checkout #universalblue #uBlue

Especially if you have an Nvidia card consider taking a look at rebasing:
https://universal-blue.org/images/
Out of box Fedora experience with hardware acceleration and graphics drivers out of the box yay.
Automatic updates. Easy pins for working deployment or betas and rollbacks.
Updated and running my own Kinoite-Saigon again. An immutable Fedora spin, made by myself, based on the Universal Blue project. So much fun! Read more here: https://github.com/kinoite-saigon/kinoite-saigon/blob/live/README.md
#fedora #universalblue #Kinoite #ublue
Moved from #Silverblue base image to #UBlue and it's simply a bunch of quality of life changes.
No need to overlay openssl and drivers on top, or configure the auto update policy..
I'm not good at troubleshooting Ubuntu issues.
Nvidia issue?
What I can say is:
#uBlue has images for Nvidia users for easy peasy gaming on Linux.
Baked in drivers out of box hardware acceleration etc.

The neat thing about rpm-ostree is how easy rolling back or pinning deployments is for if any issues ever happen.
#distrobox is neat for things not available as #Flatpak or layered.

My friends.
End your suffering.
Tryout just today:
Make your own recipes. It's like aliases with extra steps...but it's spiffy indeed.
On Universal Blue we have "just update" out of the box to easily update flatpaks, rpm-ostree and distroboxes.
Anyone interested in checking out the cloud based image OSs of #Silverblue #Kinoite & #Sericea:
Also consider checking out Universal Blue #uBlue
Can even simply rebase:
https://universal-blue.org/images/
A reminder it's not a Distribution. More like a reimplantation/tweaking of Fedora with extra batteries.
Can even make your own image and share with friends/family!!

Easy way to use #nvidia on #fedora
Checkout #distrobox as well!

All the goodness out of box and easy peasy Nvidia drivers.
A cloud image based (immutable) like
Fedora's Silverblue/Kinoite could be good as well.
I like Universal Blue #ublue best as it's got automatic updates setup right out of the box, as well as RPM fusion codecs enabled.
Basically Chromebook usability, except it's Fedora.
Rolling back a deployment is easy peasy if anything OS related borks.
Can pin 📌 a known working deployment etc yay.
Rebasing to a different desktop environment is also fun and exciting!
I believe it should work okay by layering the rpm in rpm ostree yes.
Also consider Universal Blue #ublue

Have images for NVIDIA and non Nvidia machines.
Codecs and acceleration out of the box.
Udev rules for controllers on games.

I was originally on Fedora KDE as well.
Having my steam deck made me more comfortable to try cloud based images on my desktop.
The #Linux command line (GUIs too), needs controlled language. A standard set of words that mean only one thing, similar to #Catepillar or #Aircraft #Maintenance #English.
-i, --install, install = install
-u, --uninstall, uninstall = uninstall
etc.
The last is particularly troublesome, as utilities use -r, -e, --uninstall, --remove, --erase, etc.
I'm sure this would be tied up in committee for decades, but the need is there.

Proposal to shorten “rpm-ostree” (six syllables) to “rost” or “roast”, either only one syllable, and easier to type.
On Fedora side we were using RPM fusion, even when they had acceleration on Fedora RPMs because we needed steam or discord.

I've embraced Flatpaks mostly and moved to Kinoite to avoid those problems/codec shenanigans.
Atomic backups & auto-background updates.
Easily Rollback or Rebase deployments is *chefs kiss*.
Universal-Blue #ublue does have RPM Fusion codecs enabled out of box for a spiffy Fedora experience for non flatpaks:
